I grow these trees from information you provide and if you’ve seen one before, you’ll know how incredibly detailed they are.
They are traditional line drawings that look like they have fallen from the pages of an old leather bound, well-loved book of fairy stories. I put my own unique friedandy spin on them and like to splash a tiny bit of colour here and there. I use high quality heavyweight paper (200gsm minimum) and fade proof pigment ink.
These trees are perfect keepsake gifts, ideal to mark special occasions. I can incorporate names and dates amongst the branches, making these become personal, unique, and heartfelt. Previously I have created trees for weddings, engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, christenings, newborns, new homes, in remembrance of somebody and just for the sheer enjoyment of having one on the wall!
I’ll ask you to provide names and dates (plus any additional info you would like me to capture, such as house numbers, the baby weight etc.) and then around 10 things you would like me to weave and grow into the branches for you. This is the bit where you test my skills and imagination! I have loved creating a baby T-Rex, a ballet dancing kangaroo, flying mini Babybel cheeses, Del Boy’s yellow van, pink elephants, dog bowls, mouse ears on hot air balloons, popping lemonade bottles, rainbows and bursting handbags to name but a few!
How much?
Good question.
To make it as easy as possible, here’s a breakdown, but be aware that I can adapt the basics to suit your needs. If you were looking for a tree for an order of service and wanted me to carry the theme through the whole document, that’s fine too. If you have requests outside of those listed below, give me shout. Small. A5 (leaving room for mount): £55
Medium. A4 (leaving room for mount): £65
Large. A3 (leaving room for mount): £75
Illustrations sent unframed by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery (roughly £4 for small and medium in UK- large £6 in UK- I’ll confirm postage charges with you though so there’s no awkward surprises!
Ideally I need at least two weeks to prep, create and allow for Royal Mail delays. Alternative means of delivery are negotiable – if you’re local you’re more than welcome to drop by and collect. I might even throw in a cuppa. I have been known to meet in secluded carparks and hand over the illustration like a shady drug deal if you’re tight for time too! My motto is, “sod it! Let’s give it go!”
